Description

Property Description Frank Sweeney & Co. are delighted to offer this spectacular property at Burkeville House, Poppyhill, Loughrea, Co. Galway. This is a truly stunning property set on 3.16 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. The aerial video is a testament to that. We are joint agents on this property with Martin Healy of Remax Galway. The property has been completed to a very high standard internally and is feature backed. Features include zoned heating, dry lining, stoves, games room, gym, large master bedroom with walk in wardrobe and en-suite, double glazing, large detached garage, feature stone walls, coving throughout, phone watch alarm, robot lawnmowers, electric security gates, tennis court, C2 Rating to name a few. It measures 486 sq.m or 5231 sq.ft, this is a significant property and needs viewing to be appreciated. Walking in to the long entrance hallway leads to a large entertaining dining room with open fire. To the other side of the hallway there is a large sitting room also with open fire. Double doors from here lead to the large kitchen diner which is finished to a very high standard and features a skylight. A long corridor leads from the kitchen and hallway to two downstairs bedrooms both of which have en-suites. There is a private stairs to the master bedroom with its own walk-in-wardrobe and en-suite. There are two further bedrooms from another stairs in the hallway both of which again have en-suites. At the end of the corridor leads to the converted original barn that is split into further living space and a separate two bedroom annexe. The living space includes a large living room with vaulted ceiling and stove. Leading from here there is a large games room upstairs and a study downstairs with stove. From the study there is a large gym with separate bathroom. The annexe is self contained and has a kitchen/living area with two bedrooms upstairs and a bathroom. Externally there are beautifully landscaped gardens and lawns being manicured by the robotic lawnmowers. There is a very large detached garage. Electric gated entrance leads to a winding tree lined driveway. There is ample parking to the front of the property. It also features a tennis court in one section of the cleverly divided garden. The garden can be viewed from the roof terraces that lead from the upstairs bedrooms. The original house was part of the Burke (Burkeville) estate dating back to 1852. The estate of Theobald Burke of Burkeville, barony of Longford, county Galway was offered for sale in the Encumbered Estates Court in July 1852. This family of Burkes of Ballinruane or Ballinrooaun were descended, like their neighbours, the Burkes of Clonreiligh, in the same parish of Killoran, from Ulick carragh MacHubert Burke, head of the MacHubert Burkes of Isertkelly who was transplanted to that parish and those lands in the 1650s. Patrick Burke of Ballinruane was a generous benefactor to the Franciscan friars at Meelick and his death and that of his young son Ambrose and his wife Dorothy in the mid 1700s is recorded in the friary's obituary book.
