Description

(Reference number: 153095) Glenlusk Lodge in Cornamona, Connemara, County Galway. Glenlusk Lodge enjoys a truly amazing location on Ireland’s West Coast. This 5-Star luxury holiday lodge is surrounded by rugged mountains with stunning views over Lough Corrib. Perfect for active summer getaways, as well as wild, rugged winter escapes, with your nearest and dearest, young and old. Accommodation: The house has 4 bedrooms - 3 doubles and 1 children's twin. Through the front door into an inviting flagstone floored hall with doors and stairs leading off. Which way to explore first? The snug with woodburning stove and exposed brick chimney. Leather sofa and armchairs give this room a cosy, traditional appeal. Free from TV distractions, this is the place for reading the papers, playing games or chilling out to tunes on the Ruark Ipod dock. Step through to a large, bright kitchen breakfast room created when the house was renovated – the impressive depth of the original stone walls fully visible where old meets new. You can be forgiven for wanting to stay in here and drink in the views of Lough Corrib, but retrace your steps to the entrance hall and explore the right wing, you’ll be amazed. The formal dining room, with open fire place and seating for 6 echoes the snug in its originality, leading into a modern sun room where floor to ceiling windows wrap around you and bring Lough Corrib right into the heart of this home. Snuggle up in an Avoca throw, curl up with a book, lounge by the fire, stretch out to watch a film or just enjoy the mesmerising view. When you tire of all this, take the short walk to the ground floor with TV/DVD player and ensuite shower room. Bed for the rest of the clan is back to the entrance hall and upstairs to the family bathroom, turn once and a few stairs more to bed. A short journey that does not disappoint. Lightly painted wooden flooring and neutral decor lends a tranquil, low key air. You can’t help but relax in this space. Two double rooms and a children’s twin bedroom free from gadgetry and distractions allow all generations plenty of space to rest and recharge under marshmallow duvets and crisp white linen for the next day's adventure. The bathroom is large and airy: the slipper bath made for grown-up wallowing and with a floor standing tap & shower attachment makes it just as easy to cope with kid’s bath time. A walk in rain fall shower is best for those invigorating quick bursts of cleanliness. Fluffy towels, hand soap and Sheepskin robes complete the hotel style comforts. Exterior: Enjoy the private garden, laid to lawn that wraps around the house with space aplenty for al fresco dining, at the table for 6, or lazing around the fire pit. At night time lights concealed in the foliage illuminate the BBQ and fire pit areas to create a magical atmosphere perfect for taking in the view that stretches across the Lough to the shores and hills beyond. Younger ones will enjoy creating their own den in the tree house & burning off excess energy on the wooden swing. Things you should know: The Lough Corrib road which runs around the Lough, lies to the front of the property. The elevated position of the house, holly hedge and gate which keep the garden enclosed for safe playing and road out of view ensure your enjoyment of the space is not interrupted by passing locals as they travel around the Lough. Roads within view are rare in Sheepskin properties and whilst we know it is right to mention it, it must be said that here in Connemara we are are talking more country lane than A road. A large duel fuel Rangemaster cooker and upright American style fridge freezer with ice maker will make the cook’s life much easier. There isn’t a microwave. The self contained utility room is perfect for muddy boots, damp clothes and those sometimes necessary washing and drying chores. The utility room leads into the downstairs bedroom which can also be accessed from the main sun room. Either entry door can be locked from the inside for privacy and to minimise disturbance. There isn’t a landline at Glenlusk, but WiFi is available so you are never completely out of contact. Remember to check with your mobile provider that you are on the most cost effective tariff for making & receiving international calls. Pets unfortunately can’t be accepted at Glenlusk Lodge due to the sheep neighbouring in the field next door..
