Beautiful traditional cottage with breathtaking views of Omey Island

This beautiful newly renovated traditional Irish cottage is set in Aughris, Claddaghuduff overlooking Omey Island and the Atlantic Ocean. The cottage maintains most of its original, rustic features but also has a modern feel throughout.

Lazy summer evenings can be spent enjoying a BBQ, bottle of wine and taking in the breath taking views of the Atlantic Ocean. This is the perfect holiday home for a couples get away! The area is quite with beautiful views and the cottage itself is cosy and romantic. Families will also enjoy the abundance of beaches in the area which the kids (big & small!) will adore!

Omey Island is directly across from the cottage, is accessible at low tide by crossing acres of firm sandy beach, either in a car or on foot. Simply follow the direction poles in the sand that mark the way across. The Omey Races - a ‘Connemara alternative to the Galway races for those who prefer sandals to stilettos’ takes place annually on the strand in Claddaghduff.

Re-established as a tradition in 2001, the annual summer races have been steadily attracting greater numbers every year and last year drew a crowd of almost 5000 people for a wonderful day of sun, sand, sea and of course, horse racing. With up to nine races on the card, there’s opportunities for , upcoming jockeys to hone their skills, while providing a great day out for spectators.

The cottage is approx. a 7-8 minute walk to Sweeney's shop & bar. The bar serves food throughout the day and has plenty of picnic benches outside for enjoying your lunch al fresco and taking in the wonderful sights of Omey Strand.

Cleggan village is only a short drive, which is a lively spot with four pubs (Olivers which serves great seafood, Joyces, Newmans, and The Pier Bar), each of which has a different character.
