Description

"Riverside "was built in about 1840 as a Presbytery for the priests of the Parish of Sneem. In 1926 The Mahony family bought the property after a new Presbytery building was built in Sneem. The last member of the Mahony family resided in "Riverside “up to the mid-1990's. Since then, the house became unoccupied and has fallen into its current derelict condition. In it's prime "Riverside" would have consisted of a substantial residence with outbuildings on it's 14.66 acres / 5.93 hectares of meadow fields sweeping down to the 500 meters (approx.) of frontage onto the Sneem River. This secluded and peaceful location is situated beside Sneem Village.    This is a unique opportunity for a new owner to reinstate "Riverside" back to its former glory.    Services to house: Public water. Sewerage by septic tank (not located). Electric and telephone supplies in close proximity. Notes about the property: The lands are zoned outside the Sneem Village boundary and are zoned rural general for both current and draft county development plans. There is no conservation order on the house structure. There are no fishing rights passing with the property to fish the Sneem River. There is a riparian right of way for those exercising their fishing rights on the river to traverse the riverbank of the property.    There is a pocket of Japanese knotweed growing in the vicinity of the outbuildings.    The house and outbuildings are in a derelict condition and should not be entered. Some of the grounds are in overgrown condition. Caution to be exercised when viewing the property.
