An Ideal Base for a Beach and Golf Holiday
With a superb beach front location you could simply spend all day looking out of the window, or you can see what conditions are like before venturing out. One of the best things is walking on the beach in the mornings or in the evening when the sun is going down - times when the beach is almost always deserted. If you fancy a bit of surfing then the popular surf resort of Rossnowlagh is just 8km away.
And you don't have to go too far to play a round of golf. The internationally renowned Donegal Golf Club occupies much of the Murvagh Peninsula and is just 500 metres from the holiday home. Murvagh has often been described as the Muirfield of Ireland, comparable in terrain with two loops of nine holes, the first nine an outer loop and the second nine an inner loop running in the opposite direction. At almost 7,300 yards (championship) or 7,000 yards (medal) this course is long.
Located Halfway Between Donegal Town and Ballyshannon
Beach Front House is halfway between two of Donegals most historic towns - Donegal Town and Ballyshannon. Donegal Town is a designated historic town and has numerous tourist attractions. Donegal Castle stands beside The Diamond, overlooking the River Eske. Located on the Diamond is the renowned Magee of Donegal. On the outskirts of the town is the quaint Donegal Craft Village. Guided historical tours of Donegal Town take place on a daily basis during the summer and the Waterbus takes you around Donegal Bay. The ruins of Donegal Abbey, situated on the bay, are open to the public. Donegal Town also has several first class hotels and restaurants. There is entertainment each night in the local pubs with music to suit all tastes.
The historic town of Ballyshannon is just 9km from the holiday home. Reputed to be the oldest town in Ireland, Ballyshannon is located at a point where the mighty Erne system meets the sea. Today it is vibrant town with a good selection of cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. It has 3 major festivals on an annual basis - the Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival, the Allingham Arts Festival and the Ballyshannon Folk & Traditional Music Festival,
