Description26.51 hectares/65.2 acres Forestry for sale in this most scenic and sought- after location, circa 10k from Cashel. These attractive woodlands need to be seen to be truly appreciated.
The forestry comprises the following species of trees:
Sitka 6.68 hectares/16.5 acres planted 1991
Larch 1.68 hectares/4.15 acres planted 1991
Ash 1.43 hectares/3.53 acres planted 1991
Hardwood 4.93 hectares/12.10 acres planted 2008
Native woodland 11.74 hectares/29.01 acres planted 2008
The wood is connected by a forest road leading from the adjacent public road. A wood shed (75’ x 35’) stands adjacent to the forest road. The forestry was planted in 1991 comprising Sitka and some Larch, and a clear fell is due by 2028. Two thinnings have been completed and a third is desirable before a clear fell. The Native Woodland and Hardwood were planted in 2008 and are a mix of Oak, Ash, Beech and Holly.
The forestry represents excellent value for money. The Sitka, Spruce and Larch are only a few years off felling and the demand for Sitka is particularly strong at present. There is also some mature ash (1991) ready for harvesting. These amazing old woodlands have the added benefit of two Fairy Forts, or Raths, with an established bluebell grove and a display of wild Orchids during July/August.
Grants of €2,500 per annum remain for 10 years. It is hoped to avail of the new Native Woodland Conservation Premium.
Viewing is highly recommended.
