FRIENDLY AND RELAXING HOUSE IN BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS WITH EXCELLENT TRANSPORT OPTIONS. We live in a nice, quiet five bedroom house in an old, friendly and safe area of leafy, suburban Dublin. Our house is called Abhaile. That's HOME in Irish! When you check in you will understand that you are indeed home. Our local amenities include a beautiful hotel, large garden centre with cafe, a newsagents and launderette. Clondalkin village is a short walk from our home and offers a wide range of amenities and activities including, a library, shopping facilities, cafes, a church, restaurants, bars and local historical areas. Corkagh Park, with beautiful greenery and stunning walkways is within walking distance from our home also. A wide range of transport options are close by including train and tram stations, buses to the airport, Dublin city centre and throughout Ireland. FAMILY My name is Phyl and I am happily married to Dermot for 38 years now. We have 4 grown up children. Emma, Matthew and Linda have left the nest and our youngest son Rory (26) is still living here with us. WORK Dermot owns and runs a very busy, contemporary art gallery in the Stephen’s Green Centre, located at the top of Grafton Street, in Dublin City Centre. This area is very popular with tourists and art collectors and one of the most elite areas of the city. There are lots of great museums and places of interest. Many restaurants, bars, cafes and fantastic shopping areas too. I will be your Homestay Host. I throughly enjoy my job looking after people. In our home, we are always interested in different cultures and eager to have good conversation and help out in any way we can. We love to take on students and we have been doing so for a few years now. We have had many guests from all corners of the earth. We find it very interesting talking with them and learning about their culture and traditions in their country. We are very proud to say our previous guests still keep in contact with our family today. We have made many friends. We love to sing and Dermot plays guitar. We enjoy all genres of music with traditional Irish ballads and country music being our favourite. A sing song is an occasional activity in our living room, with everyone invited of course! ACCOMMODATION Our rooms are available for students, workers and holiday makers. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate families with children as the environment in the house is more suited towards adults. We have two bedrooms available in our home. Bedroom 1 is a single room with a double bed which caters for one person. Bedroom 2 is a double room with a double bed and a single bed. This room can cater for up to 3 people sharing. The bedrooms are cozy and clean with plenty of wardrobe and storage space. There is a desk and reading lamp for those who are studying. We have Wi-Fi accessible throughout the house. Our bedrooms do not include en-suites. Bathroom facilities are next to Bedroom 2. This includes a shower, wash basin and toilet. This bathroom will be used by the occupants of Bedroom 2 and no more than one other person. PAYMENT Please note when booking the accommodation, 15% is paid directly to Homestay. The additional cost should be paid in-part/full in advance of arrival (please contact us to discuss which option you prefer) OR we can accept the full/remaining balance on the day you arrive. We appreciate your cooperation on this matter. COOKING The kitchen has all modern conveniences. Feel free to use the kitchen but please clean up after! BREAKFAST A light breakfast is included in the room rate. Please note that we do not provide meals other than this. LAUNDRY SERVICE We provide a washing machine for guests to do their own laundry. We provide a washing line in our back garden and clothes-airers for drying clothes. Wi-Fi and TV There is WiFi throughout the house. It is included in the room rate. There is a television in our living room with satellite channels. Netflix is available for guests to watch movies on your own device. GARDENS We have a large back garden with a sun patio which our visitors enjoy very much. TRAVEL Bus stops are at the end of our street and take between 40 and 60 minutes to the City Centre, depending on the time of day. The LUAS is a tram system and the nearest stop, the Red Cow, is 15-20 minutes walk from our house, depending on your walking speed!! The LUAS tram takes about 30 minutes to the City Centre from the RED COW transport hub. There are many buses from there to different parts of the country. We are lucky to have the RED COW close by! Driving to the City takes about 20-30 minutes, again depending on the time of day. We have plenty of off street parking. We live close to a main junction to the M50 Motorway which can bring you anywhere you want to go in Dublin and countrywide. SPORT Corkagh Park is a beautiful large park close by. It is popular for jogging and walking. There are fishing lakes and sports fields there too. Due to recent circumstances involving Covid-19 we ask for all guests coming to stay to be fully vaccinated. Sorry if this causes any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. You are very welcome to book with us. Please take some time to read the reviews our previous guests have written. We look forward to hearing from you and hope you will enjoy staying with us! Regards Phyl
