DescriptionThe Old Stable is a charming holiday home with a beautiful coastal setting just north of Greencastle on the Inishowen Peninsula. The holiday home and its lovely mature garden enjoy panoramic views over Lough Foyle, the North Coast and the Atlantic Ocean. The garden features a bridge over a little stream.
It is located along the Wild Atlantic Way and is a great tour base for exploring the beautiful Inishowen Peninsula. The Historic Walled City of Derry is only a 30 minute drive away.
A Relaxing Getaway
At the Old Stable a traditional style stable door leads into a cosy open plan area with living, kitchen and dining spaces. There are sea views from the living area which features a wood burning stove. A modern kitchen is fully equipped for a self catering holiday. There is one ensuite double bedroom and a second bathroom.
Garden with a View
The garden is very peaceful and private – the perfect location to enjoy a barbecue or just take a seat outside and enjoy the magnificent view. In the garden you can relax and watch the boats sail by or listen to the birds and the sound of the small steam that runs through the garden.
Stroove Blue Flag Beach
From the front door of The Old Stable it is a short (15 min) walk to the wonderful Blue Flag Shroove Beach and Inish Head lighthouse, where you will find a beautiful sandy beach, with car park and toilet facilities. The beach is suitable for children, swimming activities and life guards are on duty during summer months.
Greencastle and Moville
The nearby seaside villages of Greencastle and Moville offer nice restaurants, including the famous Kealys Seafood restaurant. A friendly local pub is a 5 min walk away from the cottage and both Greencastle and Moville offer genuine Irish pubs, live music and summer festivals.
Greencastle Golf Club
Greencastle Golf Club is a beautiful 18 hole links course, visible from the house and only a 5 minute journey by car. From the house you can join the stunning Inishowen Head loop walk (8km) or from Greencastle join a beautiful shore walk to Moville (2km). Moville also offers sea kayaking and canoeing.
The Inishowen Peninsula
In addition to numerous sandy and unspoilt beaches the Inishowen Peninsula has a number of major attractions including the Doagh Famine Village, the Fort Dunree Military Musuem, The Gap of Mamore, the Internationally renowned Ballyliffin Golf Club and Malin Head – A Signature Point on the Wild Atlantic Way.
The North Coast
In the summer months the Greencastle to Magilligan car ferry service provides easy access to the scenic north coast of Northern Ireland. Visitor attractions such as the Giant Causeway and The Bushmills Distillery are approximately a 1.5 hour car journey.
