The quiet, friendly townland of Saltpans is a paradise for walkers, swimmers, fishermen, painters and photographers. Sandy beaches and a relaxed pub are available in the local village of Maghery, less than twenty minutes walk away.(5 mins in car)
Golfers have a choice of courses at Cruit Island, Gweedore and Portnoo, or for the less adventurous, pitch and putt course and tennis courts are available in Dungloe.
Dungloe is the main town less than a ten minute drive away. This is a popular shopping and socializing centre for the people of The Rosses. Every year thousands of people from all over the world flock to the famous Mary from Dungloe festival. Within twenty minutes drive there are a host of local festivals each summer e.g. Annagry, Burtonport, and the renowned MacGill Summer School/Festival in Glenties. And letâ€™s not forget Kincasslagh Community Weekend in July where you may run into its most famous son, Daniel Oâ€™Donnell.
Not far from Dungloe you will find a host of fine pubs and restaurants including the renowned Danny Minnieâ€™s in Annagry and Leoâ€™s Tavern, home of Clannad, in Crolly.
