The Old Roshine School House is within walking distance of local shops, cafes, restaurants and bar in the nearby small fishing village of Burtonport. It is also a short drive from all of the beautiful sandy beaches The Rosses area of west Donegal has to offer.
The nearest beach is the picturesque Cloughlass Beach which is approx 2.5km away. Arranmore Island is a 15-minute ferry trip from Burtonport with a car and passenger ferry operating numerous daily trip all year round. Dungloe, the largest town in The Rosses is 7 km from the property, while Annagry is 14 km away.
Burtonport is a fishing village on the west coast of Donegal, in the "Gaeltacht" or Irish speaking area, and also in an area known as the "Rosses". It is 7km north west of Dungloe, which is the largest town in the area. While in the area it is well worthwhile paying a visit to award winning Lobster Pot, which is a family run pub with a national reputation for fresh home-cooked food and warm hospitality.
From the pier, there is a regular ferry service to and from Arranmore island, with several crossings a day from each end. The island is about 5km offshore, and the crossing takes about half an hour. For Tory Island and Gola Island, a ferry departs from Bunbeg pier.

The trail, which has its information points situated in the public carpark across from O'Donnells Bar near the harbour area in Burtonport, and again at the crossroads in Meenbannad, Co. Donegal is a linear walk of ca.5.5km or ca.11km return
Some of the main attractions in this part of Donegal include the majestic Glenveigh National Park and the family orientated Dunlewey Lakeside Centre. This centre has lots of different attractions to keep all the family entertained - children's play area, farm yard, boat trips, craft shop, weaving house, audio visuals, etc.
The Golf course on the peninsula of Cruit Island is within 15 minutes by car or there are several other courses within easy reach.
