Description(Reference number: 72351)
Carraig Mór was lovingly restored and extended in 2018. Situated close to the water’s edge on the Wild Atlantic Way, the Owenwee River runs through the garden with a quaint wooden footbridge bringing you to your very own island in the stream. Surrounded by woodlands and rhododendrons, Carraig Mór is the perfect escape.
The house is beautifully renovated, elegantly modern with an eclectic art collection throughout. There is a bay window in the living room, above which there is a balcony from where you can enjoy a glass of wine overlooking the woodlands with the sound of water flowing. Meanwhile, the children can entertain themselves with the latest shows in the media room. The dining room is double height with a mezzanine above. Handmade steel crittall doors separate the kitchen from the living areas. The house can accommodate up to 9 people in 4 bedrooms, all en-suite. 2 double bedrooms are slightly separate from the other bedrooms, making it ideal for 2 families or for grandparents.
The kitchen is fully equipped with NEFF appliances and a large Fischer and Paykel fridge with a water dispenser. There is a separate utility room with a washing machine and dryer.
The house is in an idyllic location, a short drive from Westport Quay and 4 km from Westport Town, voted the best place to live in Ireland. It is a short drive from Croagh Patrick, Louisburgh and the gateway to Leenane, Delphi, Killarney and Connemara. For the beach lovers, swimmers and surfers, Carraig Mór is a 5-minute drive from Bertra Beach and just beyond there is Old Head Beach and Carrowniskey, with beautiful beaches all along the coast as far as Silver Strand. If you feel like an adventure there are ferries from Roonagh Pier to Clare Island and Inishturk. The Greenway cycle path can be joined at the garden gate.
