From Clifden take the N59 to Letterfrack and Leenane for 3 miles and then turn left, signposted Cleggan. Location

Cleggan is a picturesque fishing village in Co Galway. It lies 10km northwest of Clifden and is situated at the head of Cleggan Bay. A focal point of the village is the pier, built by Alexander Nimmo in 1822 and extended in 1908. Ferries leave the pier daily for Inishbofin and there is also a ferry to Inishturk. Fishing, farming and tourism are all important to the area with local amenities including four pubs, a grocer, a post office, a sit-down restaurant, as well as a take away. In addition to trips to the local islands, popular leisure activities for visitors include horseback riding and fishing.
