Kirk Ireton is made up of sandstone buildings, many date back to the 17th century, the oldest of which is the pub. Kirk Ireton is home to a Norman church and the village is perfect for a stroll around and soaking up the history. Nearby Wirksworth is a town on the edge of the White Peak, full of character with buildings of architectural interest including a church. Visitors will enjoy exploring the ancient jitties and courtyards, and the National Stone Centre, as well as the countryside including Carsington Water and the High Peak Trail.
