Built in 1816, Ballywilliam House is a majestic Georgian sanctuary situated in a magnificent private waterside setting spanning two acres of landscaped gardens. The property is perched on an elevated site on the banks of the River Bandon, just a five-minute drive from the picturesque town of Kinsale. Located just a 35 minute drive from Cork Airport. The property consists of 8 large bedrooms with king sized beds, 6 bathrooms, an impressive sized sitting room with high ceilings, large sash windows with views over the garden and down towards the river and also a period style fireplace. The dining room can seat 20 guests. The kitchen is fully fitted with an island unit with seating and equipped with two large ovens for in-house cooking/catering. The property is ideal for family gatherings. The property oozes history, it is believed the house has existed on the land at Ballywilliam in some form since 1765, the IRA Anti Treaty tried to occupy the property in 1922 and the property was owned by American singer/song writer and pianist Tori Amos from 1995 until 2019. Many of Amos's albums were written here at Ballywillam House when it was turned into a residential home complete with recording studio. Videos and photographs for the album Night of the Hunters were also taken there. The house is airy and filled with light, it has tall ceilings and extraordinary twelve over twelve sash windows. A cantilever staircase with a spectacular oriel window leads to the upstairs. The property has been restored, decorated and refurbished to the highest standard, to ensure its Georgian status is still intact. For the younger guests, there is a fifty-foot climbing frame, football pitch, trampoline and an outer building containing table tennis and football table. To the rear of the house is a courtyard with original cut stone walls which houses a large luxury thatched garden gazebo for all year round relaxing, dining or entertaining. It is complete with heaters and protective canvas awnings to protect from the elements so you can enjoy the outdoor experience in ultimate comfort.
