Area The historic village of Shottery occupies a peaceful setting in the rolling Warwickshire countryside, just over a mile from the fine market town of Stratford-upon-Avon. Renowned as the birthplace of Anne Hathaway, this pretty location boasts many black and white thatched cottages and a welcoming inn serving real ales and delicious food. Shakespeare's Stratford is within easy reach, with its famous theatre, striking architecture, characterful shops and pubs and lovely, riverside walks, whilst the medieval castles at nearby Kenilworth and Warwick are not to be missed. Visit the splendid National Trust house at Charlecote Park with its graceful gardens, intriguing maze and Capability Brown Deer Park. Alternatively, place a bet at Warwick Racecourse, or simply explore the many surrounding Cotswold towns and hamlets this stunning area has to offer.
