Description

(Reference number: 452442) Part of the historic Estate of Dorney Court, this timber-framed house dates back to the sixteenth century and is a magical blend of heritage and modernity. The former great hall is emblematic of this. The thirty-foot-high ceilings remain, as do the wooden beams in the vaults, but there have been a few recent additions, from the glitzy chandelier and bovine-themed artwork to the huge kitchen complete with a range cooker. Elsewhere, you'll find two wood burners and an open fire, so guests will never be anything other than toasty. Plus, there's a range of vintage beds in the sleeping quarters, which bring a dash of aristocratic glamour to your slumber. Surrounding the property are some large grounds with stables and English village life awaits just beyond the boundaries, with Dorney Common and the home of the London 2012 Olympics rowing events, Dorney Lake, only eight minutes' walk away. If you want to work up a hunger beforehand, there are some pretty walking routes running alongside the River Thames, which can be reached in about twenty minutes from the home, plus a pub and bakery taking barely two minutes' walk. Home truths: *Only paper-wrapped logs may be used in the fireplaces *A starter supply of ground coffee and pods are provided *A high chair and other children's amenities are provided *You'll be able to self-check-in *The host asks that no shoes be worn inside the carpeted areas of the house and also that fireworks not be used due to nearby horses *A welcome breakfast hamper is left for guests, which includes eggs, bacon, crumpets, bread, milk and butter *The home is split across two floors so it might not be suitable for guests with reduced mobility *Low-key events are allowed with prior permission from your host, but speakers are not allowed inside or out *Expect to hear some noise in the back bedroom from the front bedroom's extractor . Thinking of selling? We have the right buyers if you have the right property. Five Star International - Targeted global audience Tel: +353 (0)1 566 8494 Email: admin@fivestar.ie
