Description
Situated 7 km from Clonmel, 9kms from Portlaw and located opposite the Holy Well of Mothel. This traditional style cottage has been improved and extended and provides well-proportioned accommodation but it is the concept garden that steals the show. Accommodation briefly: Entrance hall Sitting room Open fire, hot press Office/Bedroom 1 Kitchen/diner Fitted floor and eye level presses, Belfast sink Bedroom 2 Carpet, curtains and blinds Bedroom 3 Curtains Bathroom Bath, walk in shower with electric shower, W.C., wash hand basin, tiled Outside 1 Acre of landscaped gardens, outbuildings including:- Studio 5.8 x 3 recently rewired and re-roofed, steel shed, car port and garden shed/tool shed 7.5 x 2.7 • Oil fired central heating • Re-wired • Private well • Septic tank At the bottom of the garden there is a small pond which captures the Moon in reflection as you make your way between two small embankments of willow trees to gaze through a viewing hole in the circular yew hedge that is Saturn’s domain. To the left of this Neptune’s grotto where his sculptured image presides over a ferny cave. Then veering to the right we pass through Jupiter’s circle of Oak trees. Beyond this we come across the gates of Hades or Pluto in the shape of two standing railway sleepers fringed by tall grasses. Onward to the place of the Sun, a semicircle hedge enclosing a very young Sequoia tree sending a beam of sunlight and lawn between two rows of hawthorn hedges leading up to the front of the cottage. Here we look out onto the head of Mercury rising among the box hedging and Mars and Venus off to our right in flowing shrubs and roses. The Box Hedging leads the eye to a selection of various specimen trees. On the other side of which a Concave bowl in the garden is the place of Uranus which may serve as a viewing platform to the stars and the planets from the Earthly Garden. Within this ‘formal’ structure the garden has been set up to encourage wildlife and diversity. It hums with insects and bird life. If the stars align, this garden will find caring hands that will bring further inspiration and delight.
