The development is 300 metres from the Cashel Palace Hotel, currently being redeveloped to be opened as a 5-Star Hotel with walkways adjacent to the Dominic’s Court complex. Cashel is close to many other tourist attractions with Cahir Castle, Holycross Abbey and the beautiful scenic areas of the Glen of Aherlow close by. Driving: Located just off the M8 Dublin-Cork motorway, the town offers an array of primary and secondary schools. The legendary Rockwell College is located approximately four miles from the town. Limerick, Cork and Waterford third level institutions are within easy reach. Local History: The Rock of Cashel is one of the most significant historical sites in Ireland. It stands majestically overlooking the town of Cashel and the plains of Tipperary. The Rock is Ireland’s most visited national monument with over 250,000 visitors per year. The history of the Rock predates written records. In past times Cashel held the seat of the Kings of Munster and has been the focal point of many historical occasions, both glorious and infamous. In 1848 the Commissioners of Public Works took charge of the Rock for preservation as a National Monument, a status it retains today. The Dominican Friary is in full view from the apartment (see pictures in the online brochure). The Dominican Friary was founded in 1243. In 1480 John Cantwell, later Archbishop of Cashel, was recognised as patron and co-founder and re-built the friary following an accidental fire in c.1450. The Church today is ruined, but the walls with their many windows and the tower remain intact. Cashel Town: Cashel is one of Ireland’s most important heritage towns and retains the character of a past history combined with a modern outlook. Yet in this millennium, one can reach the lives of our forefathers, a timeless location.
