Swanlinbar is a small village on the N87 national secondary road in north-west Co Cavan, close to the Cladagh River and near the Fermanagh border. Around 15km from Ballyconnell, Swanlinbar's local amenities include two butchers' shops, pubs, a church, shops, a bank, a credit union, a filling station and a GAA club. Swanlinbar is served by three bus routes. Leydon's Coaches operate route 930 linking the village to Bawnboy, Ballyconnell, Belturbet, Cavan and Enniskillen. Ulsterbus route 192 provides a commuter service to Enniskillen with one morning and on evening journey each way Monday's to Saturday's inclusive. A Thursday-only Bus Éireann route 464 links Swanlinbar to Enniskillen, Ballinamore and Carrigallen.
