Oranmore is a village in Co Galway. It is located 9km east of Galway City on the edge of Oranmore Bay, an inlet of Galway Bay. A number of large housing developments make it a popular area of Galways commuter belt. There are several industrial parks located near the village, meaning it is also a great source of employment. There are also four hotels in the village, as well as several pubs and restaurants. Local sports clubs include the Galway Bay Sailing Club and Oranmore-Maree GAA Club. There is also a GAA club, ladies football club, badminton club, basketball club and golf course. Oranmore Railway Station provides trains to Galway, Athenry, Athlone, Portarlington, Kildare and Dublin Heuston, as well as on the Western Rail Corridor to Ennis and Limerick. Bus Éireann, Citylink and Nestor Bus services through Oranmore serve Galway, Dublin, Cork and Dublin and Shannon Airports. There is also three national schools and a secondary school.
