Lyre

Lyre is a townland and small village in north west Cork. Located in the parish of Clonmeen, it is approximately 3km from the village of Nad and is the highest settlement in Cork, standing at 875 feet (266 metres) above sea level. Amongst the local amenities in Lyre are a hall, a national school, and two monuments - one to hammer thrower Denis Horgan and a monument to commemorate the turn of the millennium. It also has a football team and a church.
