Listowel
Listowel is a town in north Co Kerry. It is situated on the River Feale and is 28km from Tralee. The town is situated on the N69 Limerick – Foynes – Tralee road with Bus Éireann providing daily services to Tralee, Cork and Limerick. The hinterland of Listowel is an area mainly of dairy agricultural use. Surrounding villages include Asdee, Ballybunion,, Ballyduff, Ballylongford, Causeway, Duagh, Lisselton, Lixnaw, Moyvane, Finuge and Tarbert. Listowel is one of Ireland's heritage towns with attractions including Listowel Castle and the Lartigue Monorailway. As well as a wide selection of shops, pubs, restaurants and business premises, the town is home to a number of primary, post-primary and post leaving certificate education facilities. There are three primary schools, two secondary schools and a community college. The town is sometimes referred to as the literary capital of Ireland and holds a Writers' Week each year. Other attractions include the Listowel Races and the Listowel Food Fair. There is also a GAA club in the area as well as soccer, rugby, athletics, basketball, badminton and cricket clubs.
