Foynes
Foynes is a village in Co Limerick. It is best known as a major port, located at the edge of hilly land on the southern bank of the Shannon Estuary. It is situated along the N69 road, around 38km west of Limerick City and 20.5km north of Newcastle West. Local places of interest include the port and the Foynes Flying Boat Museum while amenities include filling stations, shops, pubs, a yacht club and a national school. Bus Éireann route 314 provides a few journeys a day to Limerick via Askeaton. In the opposite direction there are buses to Glin with a weekend service to Tralee and a Summer service to Ballybunion. St Senan's are the local GAA club.
