Downings is a Gaeltacht village and townland on the Rosguill Peninsula of Co Donegal. A big tourist destination, it is situated in Sheephaven Bay and caters for international game fishermen. There is a wealth of hill forts in the area while the dunes that connect the Rosguill peninsula to the mainland are also home to the Rosapenna Links course designed by Old Tom Morris. Downings is the start and finish of the Wild Atlantic Drive and is just 4km north of Carrigart, which can be accessed via the 974 bus. There are two hotels in the village, as well as a GAA club, coffee shop, selection of pubs, a post office, water sports store and national school.
