Doneraile is an historic town in Co Cork. It is situated on the R851 regional road around 8km east of the N20 road which runs from Limerick to Cork. It is about 8km east of Buttevant, 12km north of Mallow and is situated on the River Awbeg, a branch of the River Blackwater. The area is known for its scenary and historic associations with the steeplechase horse race originating here in 1752 as a result of a race between the church steeples in Doneraile and Buttevant. Local amenities include a school, park, golf course, pubs and shops, a filling station and a credit union. Mallow can be accessed via the 243 bus.
