Carron
Carron, or Carran, is a small village in Co Clare in The Burren area. It is bounded on the northwest by Co Galway and on the south by Kilnaboy. Slieve Carron, one of the highest points in the burren, lies just north of the village. It is best known as being the birthplace of Michael Cusack, co-founder of the GAA. The village has a pub/restaurant, hostel, a number of bed and breakfasts, a church, schoolhouse and town hall. It is central to a number of tourist attractions include Poulnabrone dolmen, a turlough and the Michael Cusack visitor centre.
