Blackrock is a village and suburb of Cork City. It began as a small fishing village about five kilometres from the city centre but in more recent times has been encorporated into the city as it has expanded. Amongst the local amenities include Blackrock GAA Club, Blackrock Castle, a weekly farmers' market and a selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. Páirc Uí Chaoimh, the home of the GAA in Cork, is also in Blackrock. There are also a number of sports clubs in the area include a tennis club, and lawn and indoor bowls club.
