Ballineen is a village in west Cork which is twinned with Enniskean. It is 43km southwest of Cork City on the R586 road. It lies on the River Bandon between Bandon and Dunmanway and the fertile Bandon valley. The main employers of the villages are Grainger's Sawmills in Enniskean and Carbery Group's Cheese and Food Ingredients factory located approximately 2 km west of Ballineen on the R586 regional road. There is a national school called St Mary's in the area as well as a GAA club of the same name. Camogie and soccer are amongst the other sports played. There is also a selection of pubs and shops in Ballineen.
