Allen is a village in Co Kildare. It is situated on the R415 region road between Kilmeage, 1.7km north and Milltown, 4km south. Both of these can be accessed via the 123 bus route, which also provides access to Newbridge, 10.5km away. The village is overlooked by Hill of Allen, which in recent times has been scarred by quarrying. This hill, visible over much of Kildare and the surrounding counties, is regarded as the ancient seat of Fionn mac Cumhaill. Local amenities include the Church of the Holy Trinity, the Bog of Allen Nature Centre, a playschool, national school, a pub, filling station and community hall.
