County Carlow is a small landlocked county located in Leinster in the southeast of the country and is a gem of a county with the rolling hills of Mount Leinster, the majestic rivers of the Barrow and Slaney and a string of little heritage villages to discover along its banks. Carlow town is a bustling town situated on the river Barrow and is the county’s largest town and its administrative centre. Outside of Carlow Town there are many pleasurable and challenging walks in county Carlow such as; The Barrow Way, The South Leinster Way and Sli na Slainte. There are also many places of interest in the county which include the picturesque towns of St. Mullins, Borris, Ballon, Nurney, Hacketstown and Glynn, Duckett Grove House, Altamount Gardens and Hardymount Gardens near Tullow, the heritage towns of Leighlinbridge and Bagenalstown. Road transport dominates in County Carlow. There are two main national primary roads the run through the County; the N9, which connects Waterford City and Dublin and the N80, which connects Carlow with Enniscorthy. Carlow is less than an hour and a half from Dublin City.
