The region has a number of lovely beaches, and the village hosts the annual Samhain International Poetry Festival. With 16,000 acres, Glenveagh National Park is a walkers' paradise and is easily reachable from Gortahork. In 1980, the well-known artist Derek Hill left his home, gallery, and art collection to the country. The property also includes the Glebe Gallery and Tea Rooms, which regularly stages exhibitions. Visit the neighbouring Bunbeag, which has a spa and swimming pool, or the An Chuirt Hotel, which is located at the base of the Errigal Mountain and has a health club and spa of its own. Arranmore, Cruit Island, and Owey Island may all be visited from Gortahork by chartering a boat. Island hopping is enjoyable for the whole family.
