Close by, keen walkers and cyclists can explore the scenic North York Moors, or enjoy a spot of shopping in the large post-industrial town of Middlesborough, a place bursting with excellent eateries, shops and pubs. A trip south with bring you to the stunning market town of Thirsk, lined with attractive buildings and hosting a popular racecourse. For a trip to the coast, head 35 miles to the popular historic port of Whitby, it offers the dramatic Whitby Abbey, a range of attractions and a glorious stretch of sandy beach, whilst the Mount Grace Priory, House and Gardens rests at the bottom of the Cleveland Hills.
