Glenveagh National Park
The magnificent Glenveagh National Park is just over 20km from the holiday Home. This park has over 16,000 hectares (40,000 acres) of mountains, lakes, glens and woods, with a herd of red deer and the recently reintroduced Golden Eagle. A quaint castle is surrounded by one of the best gardens in Ireland, which contrasts sharply with the rugged surroundings.
Irish Natural Heritage Area
The Horn Head peninsula has been designated as an Irish Natural Heritage Area and a Refuge for Fauna (specifically sea birds). New Lake , which the holiday home overlooks, was formerly a salt water marsh but alterations to local sand dunes meant the marsh filled with fresh water and became a lake.
