The harbour is a hive of activity with fishing boats, pleasure craft, yachts and the Lough Foyle Ferry coming and going. The fishing boats provide the fresh fish that has made Kealys Seafood Bar famous. The Inishowen Maritime Museum and Planetarium is located in the old coastguard station overlooking the harbour. The museum has an extensive collection of artefacts, photographs and memorabilia of all things maritime; fully rigged boats, currachs, Irish Skipper archives, Foyle Pilots, WWI / WWII, emigration and much more. It also has a nice cafe.
There is a beautiful shore walk from Greencastle to the neighbouring town of Moville featuring numerous sandy coves and seating areas. A few kilometres to the north of Greencastle is the Blue Flag Stroove Beach and Stroove Lighthouse. A scenic 7km drive brings you to the stunning Kinnagoe Bay and Beach.
