DescriptionBridgetown Cottage is a lovely 3 bedroom holiday home located in the coastal village of Kerrykeel in North Donegal. All the amenities of the village are within easy walking distance from the front door while the shores of Mulroy Bay are just 200 metres away.
The holiday home has been totally refurbished in the last year. It now features a stylish modern kitchen with dining area, 3 bright double bedrooms, a living room with solid fuel stove and a bathroom with bath and walk-in shower. There is a large lawn to the back and a smaller lawn to the front with views of Mulroy Bay. There is paving to the side and back and a storage shed for bicycles, fishing rods etc.
Kerrykeel lies along the scenic Mulroy Drive - an official detour off the Wild Atlantic Way driving route. The village is well served with shops and pubs and has an art gallery and craft shop with cafe. There are a number of eating establishments in the village including the beautifully situated Ripples Restaurant. Nearby the Rockhill Holiday Park has a wide range of amenities including climbing walls, water walkers, slides, rodeo bull, bungee trampolines, indoor cars, soft play areas and loads of bouncy castles.
The Beautiful Fanad Peninsula
Kerrykeel is located on the Fanad Peninsula. This beautiful peninsula has some of the most remarkable cliff scenery in Ireland, including outstanding examples of marine erosion. The peninsula has numerous bays, glorious beaches, rugged mountains, rolling hills and numerous small lakes. On the western shores of the peninsula the renowned Knockalla coast road offers a spectacular drive overlooking Lough Swilly and the Inishowen hills. The entire peninsula is ideal terrain for walkers and cyclists. The iconic Fanad Lighthouse - a signature point on the Wild Atlantic Way - is just 20 km from the holiday home.
8km to Portsalon Blue Flag Beach & Portalon Golf Club
A 10 minute drive from the cottage will bring you to the holiday village of Portsalon where you will find a wonderful blue flag beach, a top class golf course and a quaint harbour. Portsalon Golf Club has been extensively redesigned in the last few years and is now one of the finest links courses in the north west
The holiday village of Rathmullan is also a short 15 minute drive away. Here you will find a number of fine restaurants, an equestrian centre, a sailing and watersports school, two charter boats (for deep sea angling and sightseeing) and another excellent beach. At the pier area a car ferry to Buncrana on the Inishowen Peninsula operates during the summer months.
5km north of Kerrykeel is the location of the Meadows Trout Fishery. This is a two acre stream-fed fishery which opened a few years ago and now offers the opportunity for anglers to enjoy some first rate, and perhaps unique, fishing for rainbows within sight of the sea. Ballyhiernan Bay, further north on the peninsula, is the venue for the ISA approved Adventure One Surf School.
The Rosguill Peninsula
The holiday home is also ideally situated to explore the neighbouring Rosguill Peninsula with its fine beaches and beautiful scenery including the famous Atlantic Drive. The renowned Rosapenna Golf Links is located on this peninsula between the holiday villages of Downings and Carrigart. The water sport enthusiast is well catered for in this area – including a purpose built diving centre in Carrigart
