With the Caragh - one of Europeâ€™s cleanest rivers - on your doorstep, youâ€™ll have plenty of opportunities to go salmon and trout fishing. Permits arranged. Boat hire available on Caragh Lake for free fishing.
The outdoors enthusiast can visit Cappanalea Outdoor Education Centre, which offers a variety of adventure sports for all ages. Nearby Killorglin is well worth a visit for pints of Guinness or delicious dining in one of the many fine restaurants, where seafood is always a speciality.
Guests can enjoy a nature trail through Blackstones Native Oakwood, part of Killarney National Park. The wood is dominated by bessile oak, but birch, holly, and ground layer species are also well represented. The woodland is bound on both sides by the upper and small Caragh Rivers, with 21hectares now preserved as part of the Native Woodland Scheme, a programme dedicated to enhancing existing nature woodlands.
There are three bedrooms in the lodge, two of which are ensuite, accommodating up to six people.
