He had a distinguished military career and served in the Italian army in Ethiopia in 1936 and also in the Spanish Civil War. On the eve of World War Two, in Italian East Africa, he set up a formidable native cavalry force of 800 horsemen and in February 1941 on the Eritrean Lowlands, he commanded a cavalry charge against the British Army. This was to be the last cavalry charge the British Army ever had to face in war. After his army career, Amedo served as Italian Ambassador to Egypt, Yemen, Jordan, Morocco, India and also at the United Nations in New York.\n \nHis love of hunting first brought him to Ireland and to Kentstown Glebe, where he hunted with the Tara Harriers and the Meath Hounds. He was also a member of the Royal Dublin Society since 1976.\n\nLocation\nKentstown Glebe is superbly located on the edge of Kentstown village in Co. Meath, just off the R153, 11km from Navan and 17km from Ashbourne. Driving time to Dublin is circa 35 minutes with a choice of two motorways, the M2 or M3, connecting with the M50 and Dublin Airport.
