It was designed by renowned Architect James Pain who apprenticed under John Nash and Pain also designed Dromoland and Mitchelstown Castles and countless Churches in Munster. The Church and grounds are in remarkably good condition and has an elevated 1st class view of the " Vee " and Knockmealdown Mountains. St John's has a holy well nearby and an older church behind ,a well maintained "lawn " in front along with its original distinctive caste iron gates and railings.
