This old and Historic town on the banks of the River Barrow owes its origins and early development to William Marshall Earl of Pembrokeshire and Lord of Leinster. There is a full range of professional, health, leisure, retail and commercial services available in the town. The town has five secondary schools, educating a growing young population from both the young and its hinterland providing the basis for a vibrant and educated labour market to service the ongoing needs of industry, services and commerce. The population of the town is approximately 7,000, with a further 15,000 in its hinterland.
