A handsome George IV house built in the fashionable tudor-gothic revival 'cottage' style and set in the most delightful mature grounds.

Rathwade is an extremely attractive and beautifully proportioned house in the form of a tudor cottage. The design is attributed to the renowned nineteenth century architect Daniel Robertson, although the style is similar in design and possible influenced by examples designed by the revered architect R.V. Morrisson.
Constructed between 1820 and 1840 for a member of the Bagneal family of nearby Dunleckney Manor.

Gloriously set within delightfully mature grounds a rectilinear avenue lined with wonderfully mature lime trees, planted early 1800's leads to a gravelled forecourt and the entrance porch or outer hall. The main gardens are a truly delighful example of early Victorian garden design with a stunning collection of mature trees and shrubs, including Cedar, Yew, Beech, American Chestnut, Oak various varieties of Maple, Rhododendron and Laurel.

Displaying cut granite reveals and quoins within the rendered elevations of the many gables this sense of gothic fun is extended inside, alongside the gracious room proportions, light adn good ceiling heights associated with a fine Country House of this period. All windows are shuttered and have most attractive moulded sashes. In addition there is a 2 bedroom apartment, 1 bedroom housekeeper's apartment and a charming 2 bedroom cottage in a courtyard setting. Accommodation:
