Kilvemnon Glebe, Kilvemnon, Mullinahone, Tipperary
- 6 Bed Country House 455 m² / 4898 ft² For Sale
There are 6 bedrooms and 2 good sized reception rooms. Many of the rooms have the original floorboards and the drawing room has its original fireplace.
The property boasts southerly views of the slopes of Slievenamon, it also has the rare attraction of mature male and female Walnut trees. It is ideally located within easy reach of Kilkenny, Clonmel and Fethard.
The Glebe was built in the 1780’s and completed in 1793 as a Church of Ireland Rectory for the Vicar of Kilvemnon. We believe that it was first inhabited by Rev. William Ryan. There is an alleged story that when he was collecting tithes, the locals were so incensed that there was a riot! Rev. Ryan was so traumatised that he had to leave his house and Kilvemnon to live in Cashel. Since then the house has been occupied by a succession of Church of Ireland Vicars up to 1923. The house was later lived in by Danny Kinane – racehorse trainer, breeder and uncle to the famous jockey Mick Kinane.
This fine residence is ideally suited to a variety of possibilities.
