If your New Year’s resolution is to organise your home you could start by reviewing your storage. Between well planned in-built solutions to designer boxes, with a little imagination and House and Homes advice you’ll find the storage you want and love.
Boxing Clever
Old wine crates have an attractive yet dishevelled air about them, something akin to an old French cottage. In this instance used on their side they create a wide and deep shelf unit, perfect for housing everyday items of all shapes and sizes. You could have boxes that are loosely papered at the back or alternatively you could lightly sand loose wood (avoid sanding the print) and oil to smarten them up.
Home Office
All homes would benefit from a work space, even if you don’t work from home. Sorting bills, writing letters and general paperwork can all be cared for in a personal office. For those with only a small space, the ingenious, yet well organised work stations from IKEA take the stress out of clutter. IKEA Dublin and Belfast do great work stations for small spaces or alternatively adapt a cupboard to suit your needs.

Wicker Works
The utility room is an important space in kitchen these days as we struggle to store vacuums, mops, ironing boards and the various other bric-a-brac that can overwhelm our home. Make the cleaning process that little bit easier with a calming environment of well stored items.
Wicker baskets are readily available year round in stores like InStore, Dunnes Stores and TK Maxx, just make sure to bring your measurements when shopping so your baskets fit your shelves.
Look out for other designs that will make your utility easier to work with. Wall units for hanging ironing boards are a handy design, as are plastic bag dispensers and wall hung, collapsible drying units.
Wall to wall
In-built storage is a must for small spaces and those with a lot to store! The Elfa range from Howards Storage World provides an adaptable shelving solution designed to suit any room in the house. For your bedroom, an in built wardrobe is a must for those who struggle to manage their clothes. Scandinavian company Skon will design and fit your custom wardrobe to suit your needs.
