Founded by Charlie McDermott who is originally from Tullow in Carlow, the company began trading as McDermott Auctioneers in 1992. In the year 2000, Charlie joined Sherry FitzGerald Countrywide and together with his brother James, opened Sherry FitzGerald McDermott in Carlow and later opened in Athy and Tullow.
The Athy office is managed by Bernard Hennessy, who is originally from Carlow and whose family are very well known in the area.
Charlie McDermott and Bernard Hennessy are members of the Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers.
