Generator Hotel will also link with the reopening of the Smithfield viewing tower which

There are also extensive refurbishment works being carried out on the Smithfield Plaza
to include landscaping, cobbling and electricity supply points for market stall holders
and the now famous Smithfield on Ice and Christmas market.

The Market Plaza is being redeveloped so that it can accommodate stall holders with
electricity and lighting in a large open market environment. Smithfield Square is the
largest purpose-built open civic space in Europe. It is designed to give the area a new
lease of life by bringing people back into this area of the city. The Smithfield Square
has hosted large open air concerts or large public events in the past.

It is also home to the historic Smithfield Horse market and fair which runs once a
month on the Smithfield Plaza. This is a unique horse market that is the only one of it's
kind in Dublin city centre.
